Friends of the four-legged variety…

“one by one

our friends

filled with joy and quest

begin to arrive…

one by one

living their destiny

in this world”

Fuzzy’s destiny — to come to my door and collect peanuts.  We have a number of squirrels in the neighborhood, but Fuzzy and offspring Buzzy have been coming to our house for years.  If I leave the door open, they come into the foyer and wait patiently for nuts.  They are the only two so bold.  Both squirrels have distinctive birthmarks on their lower eyelids.

Do you have friends/critters living in your trees?

  1. I have been reading a few of your posts about squirrels – I don’t have any squirrels near my house, but I walk in a park every day and one of the squirrels there is the apple of my eye. I called him “Parker” because as soon as I get to the Park, he either comes running, or parks his two front feet on the tip of my shoe or boot. A couple of times a week, I give the car a run and take it to the Park. He recognizes the car, and parks himself by the car waiting for me to come out and “gift him” with peanuts. He is special, and like you give hazelnuts at Christmas, I made peanut butter crackers for a special treat or M&Ms. Simple pleasures – the world needs more kindness and simple pleasures. We are kindred souls with our squirrel buddies. Today, I just finished a post about a cardinal … cardinal saw me feeding the squirrels, came down to ground level for a peanut. It seems I have a nice friend at the park now. – Linda
