St. John Sunsets…

“we came whirling/out of nothingness/scattering stars/like dust/the stars made a circle/and in the middle/we dance” ~Rumi

What better way to celebrate my 100th post at Kite Dreams!  In this constantly-changing world it’s good to know that some things don’t change.  After thirty-plus years of enjoying gorgeous sunsets on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, they still take my breath away.  And I’ve added a little bit of Rumi’s wisdom, as true today as when he lived in the early 1200s.

“You were born from a ray of God’s majesty/and have the blessings of a good star.”

St. John, USVI

“The sun is love.  The lover,/a speck circling the sun.”

“In the ocean are many bright strands/and many dark strands like veins that are seen/when a wing is lifted up.”

“Once you conquer/your selfish self/all your darkness/will change to light.”

“Surge like an ocean,/don’t scatter yourself like a storm.”

“Life’s waters flow from darkness./Search the darkness, don’t run from it./Night travelers are full of light,/and you are, too…”

Have a happy, safe weekend!

  1. Happy 100th, Ms. K! I like that you write Southern fiction and quote Anaïs Nin! A great combination!
